Charred Oyster is an independent film production company founded by Peter Marcus and Elizabeth DeVita. We develop and produce feature films and documentaries that turn true, difficult, deeply human material into cinema that lingers.
The name is our compass: something ordinary, put to the fire, and revealed to hold a pearl. We look for those stories — the ones with a hard shell and something luminous inside — and we see them through, from first page to final cut.
We find and shape material — optioning books and true stories, and building screenplays with the writers who can carry them.
We take projects through financing, packaging, and production — assembling the right team and steering the film to the screen.
We collaborate with financiers, studios, and streamers who want to back distinctive, character-driven work with real stakes.
